(Bangkok Post file photo)Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has invoked Section 44 of the interim constitution to remove Bangkok Governor MR Sukhumbhand Paribatra from office and appoint his deputy Assawin Khwannmuang in his place. Gen Prayut, using his power under Section 44 of the interim charter, removed MR Sukhubhand from his post. The NSCP chief appointed Pol Gen Assawin the new Bangkok governor until a gubernatorial election is held. Gen Prayut suspended MR Sukhumbhand from work without pay on Aug 25 amidst multiple allegations of misspending of funds.
